Jean-Paul Gaultier, Harry Potter, Princeton, BIRTDAY!!

Whew this week was busy!! Here's a recap:

On Wednesday for class we were able to go and tour Jean-Paul Gaultier's studio. For those of you who don't know, Gaultier is a fashion icon. He has dressed and designed many famous celebrities and is a fashion legend. We were able to meet some people who worked there and take a tour of his studio. The building was GOREGOUS! It was very old, and had beautiful architecture on the ceiling. It reminded me a lot french articture. It used to be a very famous mansion apparently. We were able to go through the whole builiding and see his new collections--hint. bright colors, polka dots, and gold chains are going to be HUGE for the Spring! It was cool to see another aspect of the entertainment industry because I had never really put together the music business and working in fashion, but it really is a huge part of an artists image. Who knows, maybe I'll work in fashion! haha.

On Thursday we went to the primer of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows! We bought tickets like a month in advance to see it in the IMAX theaters! It was so crazy how many people were there. The line was at least 2 blocks long. If you haven't seen it---GO!

On Friday a tagged along with my fellow students, who are taking a course about Entertainament Law, to Princeton University to meet their professor for lunch. It was kind of an obstacle to get there, but was a great adventure! We took the New Jersey Train Transit to get there, and I felt like i was in the Polar Express! The conductor came around and punch our tickets and everything! I was just waiting for the hot chocolate time to roll out. It was a beautiful train ride with lots of trees. It really made me miss Arkansas and Tennessee for sure. The town of Princeton was gorgeous! So quiant with coffee shops and little boutiques all over the place. We went to lunch at the famous " Tap Room" where many legends dined. They have a booth where Albert Einstein used to sit and he carved his name in the table. Look for his signature in the picture!  The campus was wonderful, full of really cool buildings. It really made me miss being a student! ( because I really feel like I'm not right now).

On Saturday it was Barbara's birthday! We went to Rockefeller Plaza and went ice skating! The Christmas tree was up, but it was hidden under a poster because they will light it next week. Did you know there is a job position just for someone to find the tree? That's what they do all year long! Crazy! The tree really was huge though! After ice skating, we went to a great restaurant called Mother Burger and ate and enjoyed each other's company!

Charlie Gibson!

Look for the Big E.

My folks come in today for Thanksgiving week! We are going to have so much fun at the Macy's Day Parade (hopefully if it doesn't rain!). Keep you fingers crossed for good weather while they are here!

30th Blog Post!

WHOO HOO!! 30th Post. I feel like this is so kind of anniversary or monument I should celebrate! I'm actually really surprised I've kept with it this long....

On Wednesday I met with an Arkansas Alumnae who just moved up here with her husband. It was so great to finally put a face with her name (as I've been told I have to meet her for the past 5 years). We met in Brooklyn and talked about good ol' Arkansas and mutual friends. She told me about a bar in Manhattan that is owned by Arkansas Alumni and they play EVERY Arkansas football game! It is decked out with Arkansas gear and posters as well! I'm going to have to check this out! Maybe we will check it out for the Arkansas Vs. LSU game when my family is here visiting.

On Friday for class we went to see the new musical " Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson". I really enjoyed it! It's about President Andrew Jackson and they portray him in a new, 21st century way. It is a very controversial show and is pretty offending, but the set is incredible! The ceiling of the theatre is lined with Christmas lights, and they have very cool props, such as a dead deer carcass hanging from the ceiling. If you get the chance to go see this show, do it! Very  funny and entertaining. My friend from high school, Melissa, was able to join our class to go see it! She is writing her senior thesis on the show. It is so nice that we are getting to see each other while I'm up here! I love hanging out with her.

On Saturday, We went out to dinner and a movie! We saw Morning Glory with Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, and Rachel McAdams. It was a good " feel good" movie. Go see it!

On Sunday, my friend and future housemate, Barbara Detch, played a show at the Bitter End. She did a great job!! She played on a piano that many famous singer/songwriters have played on. I was very proud of her! She had a pretty crowded audience too!

I was able to experience something very real last Friday...cut backs. One of the people I work under was laid off last Friday. Our office experienced quite a few cut backs. It was a very " real" situation. Unfortunately, the economy is still not doing well, and businesses have to take action. It really becomes real when you see someone you work with get laid off. She will be fine though and will fine something! I'm sure of it!

Speaking of jobs, I was able to get my friend Kelly an interview with Universal Publishing! They are hiring a Film/TV assistant and my supervisor offered my the interview, but since I haven't graduated yet I couldn't interview. However, I was able to suggest my friend who graduates in December. I wish her the best of luck, and hope she gets it!

UPDATED! finally...

So sorry friends about the lack of updating my blog! I just have not been up to doing it...or busy! Is it sad that I can't even remember what I have been doing these last couple of weeks? I'm sure I've had some interesting speakers in class, but nothing too exciting. Halloween was fun but the parade was really crowded! We ended up leaving early because it was so crowded...not to mention cold!

I don't think I'm going to survive Nov. and Dec in NYC if it continues to be this cold. The wind makes the weather so much colder! I've had to buy gloves and might even have to buy a winter hat ( I hate hats..) just to stay warm while walking to work. My friend Barbara Detch ( check her out at boodetch.com) had her first show in NYC last weekend! She did a great job! We are actually going to be living together next semester in Nashville! Over the course of last week I found a house for rent that is right across the street from Belmont. It is super cute! It has a yard for my dog Tucker and everything! We are in the process of signing the contract and working out the details this week. VERY excited!

This Friday for class we received tickets to go see the new musical " Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson". It is supposed to be amazing! Can't wait! I also can't wait for Thanksgiving break! I'm ready to see my family and watch the Macy's Day Parade with them!

That's it for now, but I PROMISE I will start updating more often...just haven't had a chance or motivation!
